The Housing Solutions Lab, led by an interdisciplinary team from the New York University Furman Center and funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, will help small and midsize cities to plan, implement, and evaluate promising local housing policies that advance equity and opportunity.
To mark the launch of the Lab, a panel of national practitioners will focus on the housing policy opportunities and challenges facing cities with populations of 50,000 to 500,000—which are home to more than one in four people in the U.S. They will also discuss the need for a stronger evidence base for effective policy interventions, the importance of centering community voices in planning and advancing racial equity initiatives, and the best ways to build bridges between housing and other critical issues facing cities.
Panelists will include:
The Honorable Libby Schaaf, Mayor, City of Oakland
Rosanne Haggerty, President and CEO, Community Solutions
Tara Raghuveer, Director, KC Tenants
Dr. Akilah Watkins, President and CEO, Center for Community Progress
Martha Galvez, Executive Director of the Housing Solutions Lab, will moderate the panel discussion.
