The NYU Urban Lab is continuing our public research and convening around sustainable infrastructure with a Fall 2022 speaker series on a “Green New Deal for the FDR”, which solicits ideas on how the east side of Manhattan can be reimagined to support inclusive outcomes for all including affordable housing, sustainable green jobs, public/private partnerships, ESG, and climate justice. Panel 3: “Financing Smart Infrastructure" will take a deeper dive into one portion of the FDR, the Lower Manhattan Coastal Resiliency Master Plan (LMCR).
“Financing Smart Infrastructure" will address questions regarding sustainability, green infrastructure, coastal flood protection, resiliency, and environmental justice. In each of our three panels, we will take a deeper dive into one portion of the FDR, and Panel 2 focuses on the Lower Manhattan Coastal Resiliency Master Plan (LMCR). We will ask questions as to what does the future look like for transportation in NYC? How can we incorporate smart highway? How can the FDR Drive help regulate traffic? How does the LMCR incorporate waterfront access and public spaces on the design? What are the financing alternatives used for the LMCR project?
