NYU Center for Disability Studies | Golem Girl: A MEMOIR (2020, Riva Lehrer) - Shared screen with speaker view
Yes, I was trying to find a good time to interject but didn’t want to interrupt!
Yes, we’ve been inconsistent about visual descriptions and should get into it habitually
We always note image descriptions but less consistent on self-describing. I usually don’t self-describe because I’m rarely on camera, and also, today I don’t look as sharp as I usually do :p
We should also get in the habit of saying who’s speaking before we speak
Adding this to notes right now, thanks again Annie!
Know the feeling!
Very good tip though, much appreciated advice
It's so profound to hear Riva's confession of how it feels to find a fellow kindred spirit!
Ms. Lehrer, who are your role models?
(I hope it’s okay to ask questions now)
Sophie — would you like to put this in using the Q&A feature? That way it won’t get buried under further chat comments. Let me know if you need help with that!
saw webinar sponsored by Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC yesterday abt Frida Kahlo and concerned about the emphasis on her beauty, and thinking about those who don't meet the beauty/sexy images norm. Wasn't in the conversation
Of course! Thank you again for the reminder
